The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale

The UFC’s inaugural women’s flyweight title fight is set and it’s a matchup that few could have predicted. Sijara Eubanks, seeded No. 12 going into The Ultimate Fighter 26 tournament, punched her ticket to the TUF 26 Finale with a unanimous decision win over No. 1 seed Roxanne Modafferi. Eubanks will fight No. 14 seed Nicco Montano on Friday for the right to become the UFC’s first female champion at 125 pounds.

The Ultimate Fighter 26 Finale Live 2017

Friday night, the UFC will see an end to its 26th season of The Ultimate Fighter. Live on Fox Sports 1, the card features all but one cast member (Maia Stevenson) competing on the card, including the two women vying for the vacant UFC Women’s Flyweight Championship. In the main event, two underdogs will square off for said flyweight championship. Both fighters have unimpressive records, as 3-2 Nicco Montano will fight 2-2 Sijara Eubanks. Both may have lackluster records but won huge fights over tough competition to earn the right to compete for the title.

Outside of the TUF competitors, there are names on the card such as former bantamweight title challenger Joe Soto, TUF winner Andrew Sanchez and impressive prospect Sean O’Malley. It could be an underrated card that brings some great entertainment. With that, let’s take a look at the card and make some predictions for fight night.

The final weight cut for Eubanks begins. She has the support of the Team Alvarez coaching staff and the motivation that she’s just one weight cut and one win away from putting herself in position to compete for the inaugural UFC women’s flyweight title. Eubanks makes weight with her team the night before the fight and is feeling better than she has going into her previous fights.

At the official weigh-in, Modafferi and Eubanks come in under the 126-pound flyweight limit. A respectful staredown follows. Fight day arrives. Both fighters finalize preparation and warm up with coaches in the backstage locker room. They walk to the octagon, and the second tournament semifinal is about to take place.
